City of West Covina's Environmental Programs
The Public Works Maintenance Division deals with many types of environmental
and waste management programs "to promote and enhance your quality of life."

Home Depot announced that they have started a National In-Store CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) Bulb Recycling Program. This CFL Bulb Recycling Program will be at all Home Depot locations. For more information download the CFL Recycling PDF
Household Hazardous Waste Roundups Now Accept E-Waste
West Covina and other Los Angeles County residents may now safely
and legally dispose of unwanted household electronic waste (e-waste)
items such as TVs and computers at L.A. County Household Hazardous Waste Roundups. The unwanted e-waste will be collected for recycling. Click here for more information.

West Covina Earns SCAQMD Model Community Achievement
The City of West Covina received the 2002 Model Community Achievement Award at the 14th Annual South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Clean Air Awards on October 16, 2002.
The City of West Covina received the 2002 Model Community Achievement Award at the 14th Annual South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Clean Air Awards on October 16, 2002. The City Earned the award because of the City's efforts to promote comprehensive environmental and good air quality programs. The City employee rideshare program, alternate fuel vehicle fleet, clean-air shuttle and public information kiosks were some of the examples cited for demonstrating the City's commitment to providing and promoting environmental programs to protect and enhance West Covina's quality of life.
The award is the first of it's kind for West Covina and the City hopes it is the first in a string of awards recognizing the City's efforts to provide residents with programs aimed toward protecting and preserving the environment.
